Video streaming website Hulu liet op haar officiële blog weten geen plannen te hebben om een HTML5 video player te ontwikkelen en blijven voorlopig dus bij Flash. Hulu is website waar gratis TV programma’s en films online bekeken kunnen worden (niet beschikbaar buiten de VS), en is ook erg populair onder de gebruikers. Denk aan een soort uitzendinggemist die niet beperkt is tot 3 zenders.

Hulu is een grote naam, en heeft dus aangegeven voorlopig geen plannen te hebben om HTMl5 ondersteuning aan te bieden. Hulu zei het volgende over HTMl5 op haar blog:

“We continue to monitor developments on HTML5, but as of now it doesn’t yet meet all of our customers’ needs. Our player doesn’t just simply stream video, it must also secure the content, handle reporting for our advertisers, render the video using a high performance codec to ensure premium visual quality, communicate back with the server to determine how long to buffer and what bitrate to stream, and dozens of other things that aren’t necessarily visible to the end user.”
